At Firearm Guardian, we respect your right to control your personal data. This page explains how to request the deletion of your personal information from our systems.

Your Rights

Under various privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Australia), GDPR, and CCPA, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data. This includes:

  • Account information
  • Profile details
  • Uploaded documents
  • Activity logs
  • Usage data

Data Retention Requirements

Please note that certain information may need to be retained for:

  • Legal compliance with firearm regulations
  • Audit requirements
  • Fraud prevention
  • Safety and security purposes

We will clearly communicate if any data must be retained and the legal basis for such retention.

How to Request Data Deletion

You can request the deletion of your data through any of these methods:

1. Email Request

Send an email to privacy@firearmguardian.com including:

  • Your registered email address
  • Account username (if different from email)
  • Brief reason for deletion (optional)
  • Preferred contact method for follow-up

2. Online Form

Complete our secure online form at: https://firearmguardian.com/data-deletion-form

Verification Process

To protect your privacy and ensure security, we will verify your identity through:

  1. Email confirmation
  2. Account password verification
  3. Additional security questions if needed

Processing Timeline

  • Initial confirmation: Within 24 hours
  • Verification process: 1-3 business days
  • Complete deletion: Up to 30 days

You will receive notifications at each stage of the process.

What Gets Deleted

Upon confirmation, we will delete:

  • Your account and profile information
  • Uploaded documents and images
  • Activity history and logs
  • Usage data and preferences
  • Backup copies (within 90 days)

What May Be Retained

We may retain certain information if required by law, including:

  • Records required by firearm regulations
  • Transaction records for tax purposes
  • Safety and security logs
  • Anonymized usage statistics

After Deletion

Once your data is deleted:

  • You will receive a confirmation email
  • Your account will be deactivated
  • Access to premium features will end
  • Stored documents will be permanently removed
  • Subscription will be cancelled (if applicable)

Important Notes

  • Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
  • Downloaded data should be backed up before requesting deletion
  • Active subscriptions should be cancelled through App Store/Google Play
  • Some data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days
